PREVIOUSLY, ON ALTERNATIVE QUEEN PRESENTS…

Friday 7 March 2014 – The Alternative Queen of Reading 2014

Alternative Queen… returned with a raucous night of one-legged clowning, comedy, poetry, nudity (of all varieties), and a hefty dose of cereal glitter.   Robyn Thick was crowned Queen, after her take on the questionable hit Blurred Line, with her own version in which she asked “Whose Line Is It Anyway?”, whilst The Poetess was runner up with her bespoke tour of Reading.

Friday 19 July 2013 – Good Queen Vic’s Emporium of Entertainment (part of the Reading Fringe Festival)

The light and dark of the Victorian era welcomed the people of Reading, as jesters, poets, singers, burlesquers and Queen Vic herself performed for their amusement. See the Emporium – Flyer for details of the show.

Saturday 15 June 2013 – Water Fest 2013

Run by Reading Borough Council, Water Fest is a fun day out for the whole family, with activities along the Kennet and Forbury Gardens, Reading Town Centre. Meeting the public were Dame La Reine, Good Queen Vic, ukulele band No Direction, clowns Eek and Tinker, juggler Obalob, Ratpack tribute act Jamie Sinatra and more. For more information download the Waterfest 2013 brochure.

Friday 8 March 2013 – The Alternative Queen of Reading 2013

Group

Reading’s first Alternative Queen of Reading was held on International Women’s Day 2013, and was a celebration of all wonderful about women – and weird about Reading. Dame La Reine was crowned Queen, but had to fight off some rather stuff competition… Here’s hoping for more eccentricity next year!
